ME and Stuff

I suppose it’ll be important to validate that I know something about writing, otherwise you might as well learn tap dance from an elephant. CAN YOU LEARN TAP DANCE FROM AN ELEPHANT? I want that. Anyone? In the comments, if you will.

ZacharySteeleHeadShotI’m the author of Perfectly Normal (April 23rd, 2024, The Story Plant), The Weight of Ashes (nominated for 2021 Georgia Author of the Year in Literary Fiction), Anointed: The Passion of Timmy Christ, CEO (nominated for the Sidewise Award for Alternate Fiction), and Flutter: An Epic of Mass Distraction. I’ve been featured by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Publishers Weekly, Shelf Awareness, and on City Lights with Lois Reitzes on NPR. I’ve been yelled at by a few editors, laughed at by an agent or two, and spoken quite rudely to by more than a couple of my characters.

In addition to the above, my long-awaited fantasy series is on the verge of finding a home, leading with the first book, The Fallen Hero. An announcement is coming soon!

Much of my time otherwise is wrapped in the tight bundle of cooing wonder that is Broadleaf Writers. An organization dedicated to the craft of writing, the foundation of a community every writer needs, Broadleaf is a bit of a dream come true. I look forward to watching it grow, and hope you will be a part of it.

I’m always a student. Some of what I say might make sense. The rest might fly better than a spoonful of sketty at the dinner table. I have no idea if that’s a good thing or not. That’s for you to decide. Just … just don’t follow my lead. For your sake. I won’t notice.
